Adam Atherton launched The Headache and Migraine Clinic ™ concept in 2014 to cater for the growing demand for better treatment models and innovative solutions for treating headache and migraine pain, chronic pain and nerve/neuropathic pain.

Adam is one of our Headache Consultants here at The Headache and Migraine Clinic™.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours from the University of Queensland (U.Q.) in 2004.  Always possessing an awe and healthy respect for the human body and nervous system, he excelled in anatomy & neurophysiology and received the Deans award for Anatomy subjects and was subsequently employed as a functional/neuro anatomy tutor at U.Q. for 2 years during his time there.

Since completing his studies, Adam has grown a deep passion for helping patients stuck in chronic pain cycles, especially those who have been misdiagnosed, misled or a managed poorly – often having a neuropathic pain component overlooked and thus highly sensitive nervous systems.  His pursuit of the latest neuroscience research education and innovative treatment approaches for chronic pain has led him to undergo extensive professional development and post graduate courses in the fields of Spinal Pain, Neuropathic pain, Chronic Pain, Headache and Migraine Pain.

In the last few years Adam has undergone training, courses, and mentorship by Dean Watson at the world renowned Watson Headache® Institute in Sydney.  As a Watson Headache® Certified Practitioner he joins only a small number in the world using this innovative approach with precision.  Adam is also a member of the NeuroOrthopaedic Institute who are leaders the area of understanding pain.  Aside from his daily passion to heal and help pain sufferers, Adam loves relaxing with his wife and 4 children and also enjoys playing basketball (getting beaten by Nathan mostly), surfing, running, playing guitar and song writing.  Book an appointment today and let us take the headache out of life!
